INTRODUCTION TO SCIENCE
What Is Science?
Our home planet earth has
more events occurring on
that than we'll imagine. These events involve living organisms and
inanimate structures. These events bring any number of questions that arise out of curiosity to clarify the globe we live
in. How do these events take place? These questions run within the minds of billions of people every second. the solution to all these questions is easy and lies in one word.SCIENCE.Now your next question is
What exactly is Science? it's the knowledge we get once we ask questions So if this is often you, why do all of your belongings or anything that you simply offer within
the air, fall to the ground? the solution or science behind it's no big deal its Gravity. You see the planet has an attraction to all or any objects, referred to as gravity & this invisible attraction is
what keeps us on earth and not floating away within the air. someone who asked lots of questions. He was very convinced, that an apple
doesn't fall aloof from the tree. and that is because. It fell on his head. That person was Sir Newton. So gravity existed even before the apple fell on
newtons head, but it
absolutely was understood and explained only newton decided to ask What? We only realize it once we follow our curiosity and ask questions. But repeatedly, one question can have quite one answer. So, there's often quite one theory to clarify the science behind each event. supported our understanding of all events within the universe, we can classify science into three main branches:
Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Let us examine what these kinds are and the way they add to the making of something as simple as juice once you are thirsty!
1-Physics:
Now let's have a look at this animation slowly and more carefully and understand where these branches get played this is often where physics gets into character. Physics is related to the force with which you hold the spoon and so the motion involved while stirring the juice fast or slow. It is the branch of science that deals with every kind of matter in and beyond the universe, their nature, their properties, and everything that causes and effects manipulates them.
2-Chemistry:
Then comes the part where all the ingredients
start getting mixed to
present juice. This is called Chemistry. It deals with the reaction between
two or more kinds of pertaining form a replacement kind. For example: When hydrogen gas and
oxygen are mixed together in
a very perfect ratio, we get H2o which is termed WATER.
3-Biology:
And finally, there's Biology. Biology shows how
your body can extract the
advantages from the juice. It is concerned with all living matter
like plants, animals and micro-organisms, their life processes not only with each other but also with the environment within which they exist.
If you have got been deep observant, you'd have realized that each one of those branches. The togetherness of those types isn't only within the case of simply preparing juice but also within the case of each event that we see, perform or experience in our lives.
Now, whether it's Physics, Chemistry or Biology let's have a glance at the 2 main categories of Science: One is predicated on asking questions about the origin of what, how and why things
happen, as discussed earlier by Sir Isaac Newton. this can be termed Basic science.
1-Basic Science :
let's
examine what Basic Science is using the identical example of juice. the primary step within the cycle involves asking questions about the origin of juice, for eg: what are the ingredients accustomed make juice, and what may be accustomed dissolve lime. Juice ingredients and the way many of these ingredients are used. Could the juice had best for the body if consumed? the following step involves making an assumption or a
hypothesis about the origin of juice. For Eg: We could use the juice of lemons to form the juice, the juice may taste plenty better if we used sugar and salt. It may be that half a glass of water might be sufficient to dissolve all the ingredients.
After we've got made the assumptions, they have to be verified by experimenting - i.e we
must try making the juice support our assumptions and test to work out whether what we assumed/ predicted is true or rather
false. After performing the experiments successfully a conclusion is formed where verified facts are established i.e during this case one can say that the juice is formed only of juice extracted from lemons, it does indeed
taste good with sugar and salt, that half a glass of water is sufficient to
dissolve all the ingredients which drinking juice does well to the body. Basic science always follows
this cycle.
Let's move to the second branch of Science that
involves determining the
varied utilities of the now prepared juice. This can be Making fruit crush concentrates, marinating fish before frying, curing
indigestion, and reducing blemishes on the skin. This category of science is termed subject area which simply looks at the assorted uses of what's already established. Simply put, Basic science is anxious about knowing something and study is using what you recognize. subject depends on Basic Science and contrariwise. Well,, we've seen that science will be fun and games. So it's about time we ask the foremost important question of all is science always
this good or does it even
have a not-so-good side thereto? to
know that, allow us to verify some examples:
Let's take energy for instance:
1) 1)It is often accustomed to making atomic power which may act as a substitute for electricity and which might be less expensive or it may be made to form nuclear bombs which might have devastating effects.
2) Technology/pollution -the cellphone- Yes it's true that the appearance of the portable phone also called the cellular phone has made our lives lots easier by allowing people over long
distances to speak more effectively and faster. But do the advantages really outweigh the risks that cellphones
are likely to cause to our body just like the high probability of brain tumours?
3) Genetic engineering/opposition: Though gene-splicing is anxious with trying to enhance existing plants and animals in terms of obtained and
derived products. It disturbs the natural ecosystem best fitted to the first kind of organisms.
The question here isn't about whether science is good or bad. Because now we all know science is knowledge. And knowledge is rarely bad. The real question we must ask ourselves before we utilize science should be whether are we using science for something good or something which will cause harm. Science has the facility to both destroy and heal. But, it only depends on how you view it and more importantly, how you employ it. We do have a choice! If science is pursued with a generous and compassionate heart, it can change our world in additional ways than one. The true potential of science is beyond our imagination. But then we will always start, by letting the scientist in us, ask these three fundamental questions WHAT, HOW & WHY.
